What to Know

So, you just registered your child for Camp. Here’s information you’ll want to know.

What to Pack

We are so much looking forward to camp being back in session this summer! As you prepare to come, we want to remind you of some necessary items to bring with you.

CLOTHING: Bring enough clothes for a fresh change daily. No short-shorts or immodest styles permitted. Campers should not pack clothing that promotes alcohol, tobacco, drug use, sexual behavior, or contains inappropriate language. Please, no spaghetti straps, bare midriffs, or improper slogans. Shorts should be modest (not too tight, too short, or worn too low.) We reserve the right to ask campers to change improper clothing. Bring pajamas or an extra t-shirt for sleeping and a light-weight jacket in case of cool weather.

SWIMWEAR: Bring a swimsuit/swim trunks for the waterfront activities. We ask for modest bathing suits for both female and male campers. Female campers, no bare midriff suits please (both top and bottom pieces must touch). Male campers, please bring board shorts or swim trunks. We reserve the right to ask for a tshirt to be worn in the water if the situation is deemed necessary by the head counselors. We ask that cover ups be worn for going to and from the waterfront. So please, bring an extra t- shirt (or something like  a rash guard) for going to and from the water.

LINENS AND BEDDING:  2 single sheets (cot size) and/or sleeping bag, pillow, and pillow case; blanket, towels, washcloth.

PERSONAL:  Hand sanitizer, sunscreen, toothbrush, toothpaste, cup, comb, soap, etc.; laundry bag for dirty clothes, plastic bag for a wet swimsuit to take home, Bible, notebook, pencil or pen.

SPECIAL DIETARY NEEDS: Parents, please note that if your camper has special dietary needs (food allergies or sensitivities) please send the needed substitutions for meals. Our cooks will prepare and serve what you send but we are not equipped to provide food for all specific dietary needs. Email ambassadorcamplkw@gmail.com to request further info.

OPTIONAL: Face mask, rain-gear, insect repellent, bathrobe, shower shoes and water shoes for the lake (recommended).

Extra Money: We have canteen twice a day (10 sessions a week).  We suggest bringing $20 to spend for the week at the canteen. This will provide enough for a snack and a drink at each of the canteen sessions. We will also offer t-shirts ($12) and other items such as bottles, journals, and stuffed animals. These items will be available for purchase both Sunday at drop off and Friday at pickup. Your camper may also want to purchase extra arts and crafts during the week. We suggest packing an extra $5-10 for those purchases beyond the normal canteen purchases.

NOT PERMITTED: Books, magazines, gum/candy, any electronic devices like gaming devices, smart watches iPods, or cell phones, knives, flashlights, fireworks, care packages, vaping paraphernalia, tobacco or drugs.

Drop Off & Pick Up Information

Location: 702 Lakeshore Dr. Lake Waccamaw, NC 28450 Click here for directions!

Drop Off: Sunday 3:00-5:00 p.m.

Please remember that Sunday afternoon registration will be from 3:00-5:00 p.m. Parents, please don’t arrive earlier than 3:00 p.m. as staff will still be preparing for the week ahead. Registration will take place on the front porch of the Dining Hall. Join the line to check your camper in with us. You will also drop off any medication your child will need with the camp nurse at the registration table. Once campers are  registered and have a name tag, you can walk your camper to the cabin where you can meet their counselors and help them set up their bunk. There you can say goodbye and we will see you on Friday!

Pick up: Friday 3:30-4:30 p.m. (* 2:30 p.m. closing session)

This year we want to invite the parents to have a taste of camp as we close out our week! We will have an informal closing session with the campers that will start at 2:30 p.m. and end at 3:30 p.m. We want to end our week together with singing, testimonies, and a time of prayer. Campers will wear their camp t-shirt that was included in the registration fee to the closing session. If you plan to join us, arrive no earlier than 2:30 p.m. and find a seat in the chapel. After our closing session, campers will walk back to their cabins with their family group to be signed out by a parent at their cabin site.  You will need to sign your camper out with a designated staffer before leaving. Please do not enter the cabins until campers are dismissed from our closing ceremony.  If you aren’t able to attend our closing session, we ask that you pickup your camper between 3:30-4:30 p.m. Please inform the director if your child is needing a different drop off/pickup schedule. Also keep in mind, our staff have various responsibilities related to Ambassador Camp’s operation which begin as soon as pickup ends. Because of this, we cannot provide care for your camper after the scheduled pickup time.

We are excited about camp this summer!

“Every year, with each passing mile as I get closer to delivering my kids to Camp, the excitement builds, in me and in my children. What a BLESSING Ambassador Camp is in our lives and I’m so thankful!”

- Andy Busbee, Parent
